The Haberdashers' Company

Empowering young people from every background to fulfil their potential through our schools and by supporting their communities.

Haberdashers are united by a belief in supporting the next generation and leaving the world in a better place.

From governing schools, to mentoring Sixth Formers; to leading workshops and speaking at our flagship student conferences; from donating to fund projects, to advising our charities on their growth and funding strategies, our members share an unshakeable commitment to the next generation.

Our members are fundamental to delivering our vision of creating resilient future generations and are actively involved in all that we do to ensure a brighter future for our young people.

Beyond the Haberdashers’ Company, our Haberdasher communities include the staff, students and alumni from our four school groups, our expert charity partners and our churches.

Education and young people sit at the heart of the Haberdashers’ Company’s work today. The Haberdashers’ family of schools collectively educates 12,000 students right across the independent and maintained sector, and we are proud that it includes schools of all types and sizes.

By funding charities and supporting churches, we work collaboratively with organisations embedded in these areas who innately and comprehensively understand their local context and act as an additional safety net for our students.

Through acting in partnership with these communities and listening to their needs, we work together to support transformational and lasting change.

By leveraging our network and resources, we seek to address disadvantage and create opportunity for the benefit of the young people in our communities in England and Wales.

The Haberdashers’ Company is nearly 700 years old, but we are not just preserving a legacy; we’re actively shaping the world of tomorrow. By investing in our children and young people, we empower them to successfully navigate their futures and achieve their potential – championing the next generation to find their purpose and place in the world.

The Tapestry of Black Britons

Paula Ogun Hector, former Haberdasher’s student, founded Tapestry of Black Britons, a community interest company to develop this multi-panel touring artwork with creatives, schools, universities, exhibition venues and community groups across Britain.

It honours historic and ongoing Black contributions and will stretch back to Roman Britain and Tudor courts—because these are British stories and our shared cultural legacy.

As part of the project, Paula led art creation workshops at Haberdashers’ schools including: Haberdashers’ Hatcham College, Haberdashers’ Crayford and Haberdashers’ Borough in South London.
