Grants History & Statistics

Over the years the emphasis of the Company’s activity has changed from the control of the trade of haberdashery in the City of London to administering the charitable foundations established through donations and bequests made by members of the Company.

Four educational foundations support the Company’s nine schools. In addition, there are three main grant-making foundations, through which donations totalling over £900,000 were made in the year to June 2007. Of this, 300 grants, with a value of £251,000, were given mainly to pupils and former pupils of Haberdasher schools and some to other young people, mainly for educational purposes; and 235 donations, valued at £660,000, were given to charities.
