We were delighted to host the Next Generation Asse We were delighted to host the Next Generation Assessment Conference at Haberdashers' Hall, bringing together education practitioners to explore how innovation and equity can shape future assessment practice.

The event aligned with our submission to the Curriculum and Assessment Review and helped us reflect on what a Haberdasher education might look like in the years ahead. Speakers shared powerful insights, including a student’s account of how exam pressure affected her confidence—reinforcing that no child should leave education feeling diminished.

As we consider challenges such as AI and differing stakeholder expectations, these conversations will continue across our schools and with partners across the sector.

Each year, our nine Haberdasher secondary schools Each year, our nine Haberdasher secondary schools are invited to send one talented competitor to take part in the annual Young Musician of the Year competition.

Now in its sixth year, and part of the Haberdashers’ Advantage – Character programme, the competition seeks to build a sense of community between pupils across the schools, providing cultural capital and character development opportunities.

Our nine competitors delighted the judges and audience with a diverse range of performances on clarinet, violin, piano, cello and vocals. Congratulations to @habsadamsmusic student, Arjun, in Year 13, who performed Liebestraume by Liszt beautifully on the grand piano.

Arjun reflected: “The competition was an amazing experience. Even though there are many Haberdashers with impressive jobs and titles, everyone is always really friendly and they always go out of their way to talk to you. The competition itself was fierce, and I’m honoured to have been chosen as the winner! Despite being really nervous beforehand, performing in front of the Haberdashers was a fun and rewarding experience.”

Taking A-levels in Economics, English, Maths and Music, Arjun has accepted an offer to study Music at the University of Cambridge and plans to follow this with a law conversion course. We wish him all the best.

🎓 Following your passion can open unexpected doors 🎓 Following your passion can open unexpected doors 🎶⚖️

After attending one of our Haberdashers’ Advantage: Futures – Law Networking Lunches, where he chatted to professional Haberdashers working in the legal sector, Year 13 student Arjun, Head Boy at Haberdashers’ Adams, discovered that a future at the Bar didn’t mean giving up his love of music.

We’re delighted to share that Arjun has received an offer to study Music at the University of Cambridge — with plans to pursue a law conversion course after his degree. The best of both worlds.

His story is a powerful reminder that there’s no single path into the legal profession, and that studying what genuinely inspires you can be the foundation for long-term success.

👏 Huge congratulations to Arjun, and best of luck to all our Year 13 students as exam season approaches.

Each year we hold two student leadership conferenc Each year we hold two student leadership conferences with our students - both part of the Haberdashers’ Advantage Character programme. One of these conferences concentrates on sixth form leadership, whilst the other works with our primary student leader representatives in Year 6.

The event sees students selected for leadership positions in their schools, such as Team Captain, Head of House or Prefect, take part in activities that prioritise team work, confidence and resilience.

Students enjoy workshops which test their capacity for working together and supporting their fellow students, encouraging empathy and the ability to listen before acting as key leadership skills.

We never fail to be inspired by our young people and look forward to seeing them become the leaders of tomorrow.

And we hope that they always remember… “Once a Haberdasher, always a Haberdasher!”
Habs Aspire connects sixth form students with a me Habs Aspire connects sixth form students with a mentor from a profession or sector they are interested in, for 1:1 online mentoring across their two years of sixth form.

The programme:
- Equips sixth form students to make informed decisions about their future pathway whilst understanding that this path may change
- Improves their communication skills and resilience
- Makes connections across the Haberdashers community

As part of the matching process, mentors and mentees are also asked about their hobbies and interests. This can help build rapport early in the mentoring relationship, adding some fun alongside serious discussions about the mentees future.

And sometimes, our mentors and mentees connect over the simplest things that we all share in common...

For more than 700 years, the Haberdashers’ Company For more than 700 years, the Haberdashers’ Company has endured as a symbol of craftsmanship, education, philanthropy and charity, an embodiment of the idea that success gains its true meaning when it serves others.

To "serve" is in our motto for a reason, look no further than the grants, bursaries, scholarships, mentoring, fundraising and other excellent initiatives that support our guiding principles of serving with generosity, educating without discrimination, and investing in our biggest asset – our young people.

Each and every one of our 17 Haberdasher schools work tirelessly to support their students through formal education. But how can we support the communities in which those schools are embedded, to create longer lasting change and social cohesion?

It's a question that Alex Craig, member of the Livery, asked himself recently as he shares his experience of volunteering with one of our charity partners, Home-Start Southwark.

"There are so many opportunities to get involved and my hope is that my journey below will inspire and motivate other Haberdashers to take that leap." - Alex Craig
