H.M.S. St. Albans

In 1986 the Company formed an affiliation with HMS BRAVE, which ceased in 2000 upon the de-commissioning of the ship. In 2001 the Company became affiliated with HMS ST. ALBANS, the last of the Type 23 "Duke Class" frigates, launched in May 2000 and handed to the Royal Navy, after sea trials, in November 2001.

Following a tradition established with HMS BRAVE, the Company has donated an annual award, the "Martyr of The Year", to be awarded to the member of the ship's company who has contributed the most to the effectiveness and efficiency of the ship. The ship was commissioned on 6th June 2002 when the first "Martyr of the Year" award was presented.

The affiliation continues to thrive with members of the ship’s company visiting the Hall and many members of the Company visiting the ship. The highlight of 2005 was the International Fleet review to which the Master and Wardens were invited. The Ship is currently on deployment in the Gulf and will be back in UK waters towards the end of 2006.
