This, the Company’s oldest school, was founded in 1594 in Bunbury, Cheshire by Sir Thomas Aldersey with permission from Queen Elizabeth I. Originally it was a grammar school for boys, although girls were permitted to attend to "learn English". It became a Public Elementary School in 1902 under Cheshire County Council control and in 1958 became a voluntary aided primary school catering for the needs of Bunbury and the surrounding villages. Whilst funded by Cheshire County Council as the Local Education Authority and supported by the Diocese of Chester as a Church of England school, the Company has contributed to the development of the school buildings and grounds over many years.
Currently there are 200 boys and girls aged 5 -11 at the school which aims to provide a first class balanced curriculum appropriate to the overall development of the children. They are encouraged to nurture self-confidence and self-esteem and to value honesty, tolerance and respect towards others. The school is an integral part of the local community with support from an active School Association and it has a happy enviroment where everyone matters and Music plays an important part.
