Health Careers Conference in collaboration with St Barts Hospital

This month, students in Y12 across our Haberdashers' school who are interested in persuing a career in the health sector, joined us at Haberdashers' Hall for a two day-long careers conference.

Habs students who are considering a medical career applied to take part in the opportunity to find out more about their options in the field of medicine and beyond.

On the first day of the conference our students were given exclusive access to St Barts after hours, as they joined a special behind-the-scenes tour of the hospital.

During the tour, students met with medical professionals to learn about careers in everything from radiology to cardiology and were able to ask insightful questions along the way.

On day two of our Health Careers Conference with NHS Barts Health, our Habs Y12 students heard from different experts as they discussed their specific areas of healthcare in more detail.

Allied healthcare professionals they heard from and spoke to, included two Haberdasher members; Helen, a Physiotherapist, and Victoria, a GP, as well as the Medical Director at St Barts and an advanced clinical practitioner.

Highlights of the day for our young people included a thrilling talk by an Intensive Care Consultant on working under pressure during war, and meeting Ola, a senior Cardiac physiologist who was also a Haberdashers' Hatcham Alumni.

This event is part of Haberdashers’ Futures - a programme of careers focussed activity run by the Haberdashers’ Company for pupils at the Haberdashers’ family of schools. It is supported by the Monmouth Enterprise Initiative.

Haberdashers’ wider aspiration is to empower young people from every background fulfil their potential.
